Our medical professional liability policies provide legal liability cover for claims made against healthcare institutions and professionals arising out of the provision of clinical services. These policies cover death, bodily injury, mental injury, illness or disease caused to any patient.

All of our policies provide automatic cover for ‘Good Samaritan’ acts administered at the scene of a medical emergency, accident or disaster.

In addition to providing medical professional liability, we are able to provide a combined Claims Made Medical Professional Liability and Public Liability policy. Our combined policy is tailored to provide seamless cover and provide peace of mind to our clients.

Limits of Liability

Medical Professional Liability Cover

Written on a ‘claims-made’ basis – we are able to provide cover up to a maximum of: £10M, USD10M, CAD10M & AUD15M or £10M other currency equivalent any one claim, £20M, USD20M, CAD20M & AUD30M or £20M other currency equivalent in the annual aggregate.

Public Liability

Written on a ‘claims-made’ basis – we provide cover up to a maximum of: £10M, USD10M, CAD10M & AUD15M or £10M other currency equivalent any one claim, £20M, USD20M, CAD20M & AUD30M or £20M other currency equivalent in the annual aggregate.

Tailored Cover

Our policies provide legal liability cover for claims made against healthcare institutions and professionals arising out of the provision of clinical services. These policies cover death, bodily injury, mental injury, illness or disease caused to any patient. All of our policies provide automatic cover for ‘Good Samaritan’ acts administered at the scene of a medical emergency, accident or disaster. All policies are written on a claims-made basis. Our cover includes:

• AIDS & Hepatitis Non-A – Liability for claims as a result of AIDS and Hepatitis Non-A
• Defence Costs – Unlimited defence costs payable up to the Limit of Indemnity
• Dishonesty of Employees – Claims caused by the dishonest acts of employees
• Errors & Omissions (Not involving bodily injury) – Liability for third party financial loss arising from professional mistakes, not involving bodily injury
• Internet Liability Liability for claims arising from advice or information provided via the Internet
• Loss of Documents – Liability for the loss of important documents, which are entrusted to healthcare institutions and professionals in their professional capacity
• Public Liability – Policies provide legal liability cover for defence of allegations and claims made against healthcare institutions and professionals. Cover includes injury, illness, death and loss or damage to property sustained by members of the public, which arises out of businesses activities. This extension also provides cover for:
• Food and Drink
• Fundraising Events
• Personal Effects
• Ambulances
• Reinstatement of Limits – Full or partial reinstatement of the limit of indemnity in the event of a claim.
• Worldwide Jurisdiction – Cover for claims made anywhere in the world.
• Breach of Professional Confidentiality
• Discovery Coverage – Liability for claims made after the expiry of the policy.
• Independent Private Practitioners – Liability of independent private medical or dental practitioners for work performed for healthcare institutions. This extension can be in place of, or as a supplement to maintaining individual medical professional liability insurance.
• Libel and Slander – Liability for accidentally defaming others. Medical Practitioners whilst employed by the entity
• Prior Acts – Liability for medical services provided prior to the commencement of the policy.
